Remastering

Hello Mischief Makers!
So we mentioned in the Raven & Owl post that we had big plans for Wolf & Magpie Media, which we are now going to share!
We are Remastering! Not only are we going to give our website a much needed facelift, we are also going to go back and remaster our older audio dramas! What exactly does that mean? Well, let us explain.
When we first started back in 2022, we were just a small group of friends with big ideas and no real knowledge on how to bring those dreams to life. Our first idea was to create a survive the night visual novel, which we quickly realized was outside of our current skillsets. So we decided to try making an audio drama first. Thus, Red River Reaper was born.
But we had absolutely no budget so we had to try to make things ourselves. A lot of the current team ended up voicing the main roles, mainly to gain experience and understand what truly goes into making a visual novel before we brought in other actors to tackle these bigger roles.
We got the script recorded, but then we fumbled on what to do next. None of us had a ton of experience with audio engineering, sound design and mixing, and there was still no budget to hire professionals. So Jenna ended up doing their best and edited the whole drama. It... wasn't great, but our very first drama was out in the world! And, at the time, we were really proud of what we did.
With a bit more experience, we decided to do another drama. Then another. And while we gained more knowledge and experience, the dramas still weren't quite at the level we wanted. So after Yule Be Sorry, we decided to go back and remaster our audio dramas.
So we have been working on a lot of things behind the scenes.
Improved Scripts: While we liked our stories, we have also grown as writers and wanted to go back and change some things around. Flesh out the characters a bit more. Make the dialogue a bit more natural. And hire script editors and sensitivity readers.
More Artwork: Towards the end of Season One of Full Moon Mischief, we decided to make sure we had at least character sprites for each drama to help folks with auditory processing difficulties follow along with the story. So each remaster will have character art and (hopefully) background art to accompany the dialogue.
Custom Subtitles: Along with the artwork, we are going to have custom subtitles for our Full Feature videos to help folks follow along with the story and who is speaking.
Recasts: We love all of the actors that we worked with and appreciate all the work they did for us! A lot of the cast will be asked to return, but some characters from the original dramas are going to be cut to streamline the plot or reworked into new characters. We also had a lot of the same actors play multiple characters (mainly due to time restraints). With the remasters, the dramas are going to be a lot more connected, and the stories take place in the same city so it would be strange to have multiple characters sound the same. The previous actors were asked which character(s) they would like to continue voicing and the rest will be eventually be recast.
More Custom Music: We are hoping to have more original music to accompany the dramas to help with the immersion.
Professional Audio Engineers and Mixers: This is probably the biggest bit of news when it comes to the remasters. We are working with professional audio editors, sound designers and mixers! This will make our audio dramas a lot cleaner, immersive and hopefully reach the level of quality we always strived for.
Our website will be going doing for a little bit, as we prepare for the soft rebranding/relaunch, so don't be alarmed if you can't access this site! Red River Reaper Remastered will be coming out this October so be sure to check it out and come back here for more updates!
All the best and see you soon!
